Thanks Falcy!

I don't know which is cuter that he looks like a school boy or that he seems to be using his character's British accent.

It's not his character's accent - it's his real accent coming out there. But I am pretty sure that the whole going to law school come from the preview chat I attended, when Dick Wolf mentioned that a copper character from one of the other L&O shows was doing that, and Jamie expressed interest.

I shall try to post my account tonight here...

Interesting. Having heard him in person and in various interviews it seems at the beginning of the clip it was the accent I was use to and then it changed so I assumed he was slipping into character. Then again, between working on BSG and living in America it could have led to his accent being altered.

Thanks for doing a write up, whenever you have time, I'm looking forward to it. As I'm sure are others. :)

It's true that if you listen closely, ther's a bit of what we call Estuary English (generic east-endish accent which is widespread among middle classes who might otherwise have posh accents, hah, the english accent system is soooo beset with subtle class-ridden signals) around the beginning, but it is essentially his own voice. You'll hear the difference, I think, when you see the show.

I will do it, promise!

ha! I noticed that! He's sliding back into his old voice! I recall saying to wisteria_ that in his recent interviews (before he moved back) he was sounding more American than in his early, circa-mini and S1 interviews. He's speaking faster now (in this clip), among other things. ;0P

I'm afraid I don't have the ear for being able to differentiate the sometimes subtle differences in accents. Although, I am offended when BBC America takes it upon themselves to close caption shows with the assumption we can't understand what people are saying. I don't think we're quite that bad over here. ;)

i think it's the combination of both + that he looks so very, very young compared to the recent BSG-episodes. can't wait to see LO :)
