Official: Jamie Bamber to Star in "Le pere de ma fille"
I just had it confirmed by his publicist, Jamie Bamber will be starring in Le pere de ma fille along with actors Gerard Jugnot and Francois Berleand. Filming is to begin August 4 and run through September 28th in Excideuil and surrounding areas, at least according to a casting sheet I found. The film is in, probably no surprise to anyone, French. :)

pinkylilie found a link at the 'Pure People' website which appears to share some details about the film, but I, unfortunately, didn't get past two years of high school French.

And pinkylilie has shared a translation of the synopsis:

Bernard (Francois Berleand) is a rich and cold guy who teams with Gus (Gerard Jugnot)poor but generous guy to find Chloe (Olivia Ruiz, french singer). They both think she's their daughter...But à beautiful young man (Jamie Bamber)will obstruct their search...

It says Jamie plays a beautiful boy, but that's probably not news to you. ;-)

I actually found another link to a news item that I ran through google translator and it said ... "But she's already found another father figure" or something like that. And I wondered if that was supposed to be Jamie which seemed very odd.

I went looking for the exact link/info:

"The film tells the story of two men, one rich and haughty, the other poor and focused on alcohol. The two characters are each believed to be the father of Chloe, played by the young singer. They both go looking for him, only to discover that the girl had found a surrogate father, played by the Anglo-American actor Jamie Bamber, as we saw in the series London judicial police (we wonder is what he is doing here, but when you see the actor shows why Olivia has chosen a substitute for Jugnot and Berléand)"

Lol. That last bit. So I guess he's playing kind of a sugar daddy? Hee.

OK...odd...

I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

But what really stuck me is they referred to Jamie as "Anglo-American", here he would just get labeled as "British actor..."

I think they used "Anglo-American" because Jamie has the two nationalities, if I don't mistaken. He's not really known here (I'm french, so sorry for my english, I don't really write, just listen!), so he's not really attached to a nationality, I suppose lol !

You are correct. His father is American and mother is English/Irish. It's just in the U.S. the media always refers to him as being British, even though he has dual citizenship, so it was odd for me to see someone acknowledge his Anglo-American roots. :)

I'm guessing either she plays younger than she really is (since she's 30 in real life but does look younger and why would she see a father figure in someone who is only a couple of years older than her).
Or the information isn't quite right, because the way it's worded seems like it all cmae from the same source.

(I wouldn't put it past them that he does act like a father figure, it's a french movie after all, just look at "Léon" ;-) )

Awesome!
We get a lot of french movies in multilingual cinemas in Europe, so I might get to see him on the big screen! Also seems to be a comedy, so I'm looking forward to seeing him in a funny piece.

(Sad news for Dragon Con goers but I think he'd rather be on a set, so good for him!)

à beautiful young man (Jamie Bamber)will obstruct their search...

Well, they certainly cast him accurately!

But now I've got George Michael's "Father Figure" playing in my head. Could be worse, I suppose...

spongetrisha From: spongetrisha Date: July 25th, 2010 09:07 pm (UTC) (Link Me)
Yeah. I wish I'd paid more attention in French now?

Do we know how this is going to fit in with his Outcasts schedule and LOUK?

i have no clue....
zegeekgirl From: zegeekgirl Date: July 26th, 2010 04:04 am (UTC) (Link Me)
I would assume that he's probably wrapped on Outcasts, at least for now. LO:UK technically doesn't have a schedule, yet - they haven't officially recommissioned another batch of episodes, though it's likely. He could probably squeeze the film in before they get rolling again if it does happen, though.

Have been running around Comic-Con like a crazy woman since Wed. night so I haven't had a chance to drop by and register my *squee!* yet. ;) Waiting in an enormous line for the Walking Dead panel now though, so I've got time.

Squeeeeee! This is terribly exciting. Unexpected and exciting. :D

That's an amazing news! Too bad it's far away from PAris, not sure I could go to the set to take picture :(
But a french movie with Jamie speaking French with his cute accent? I'm dead! :D
