'17th Precinct' Pilot Review
The Futon Critic's Brian Ford Sullivan has posted his thoughts about the 17th Precinct pilot.

The Futon's First Look: "17th Precinct" (NBC).

Do beware of spoilers if you, like me, are hoping the pilot magically appears on line. What? I had to say it! ;)

While not what I would call a positive review, I do find it to be a fair, with what did work (the actors and potential themes) highlighted as well as what didn't (some of the magical elements come off as silly). I think Brian's bottom line sums up what we all are feeling.

Curiously, it seems as if Kristin Kruek was edited out of the pilot.

*nod* It's what I said aaages ago. So so pilots sometimes beget awesomeness. Precedent. We haz it.

Was also quite pleased with a lot of the tweets I saw after this was posted. Particularly the one that said, and I quote: "After reading @thefutoncritic 's review of 17th Precinct I actually want to watch it more now." (And they went on to, rightfully, question the logic of letting NBC have the keys to the car on this one. Please, Ron. Never again. They lost their priviledges.)

Making us question NBC's thinking even more are the tweets popping up describing how horrible the Grimm pilot is. This is on top of the project having zero buzz during pilot season. I have to admit to questioning 17th Precinct's long term success, but I do believe it would have fared better than Grimm in the short term.

Highly probable. And yes, sadly, we're still in a reality where neither show has excellent odds of making it past an initial order of 13 (if that) when the network can get fussy about its ratings and yank it for yet another yawn-inducing talent competition. (O hai, The Voice.)
