Discussion Thread: CSI: Miami 10x03, "Blown Away" (spoilers!)

OK, just a little over an hour  (CORRECTION: Just saw a heads up from asta77, the football looks to be delaying the episode till about 10:35 p.m. on the East coast. Overset your DVRs people!) before Jamie's CSI:M guest shot airs, so here's your discussion thread, JBN! Flail, giggle, gnash your teeth. do whatever you're compelled to do in a spoiler-iffic fashion in the comments. (Because wow, this time we have NO IDEA what to expect, do we? Oof, the suspense... ;) )

Might be back to add a screenshot or two to the post before the evening's over, too. We'll see how it goes.  Well, there's your first screenshot up top. ;) More to follow...

ETA: MORE!...

GO!

Seriously, I'm still severely gutted over LOUK. I kinda hope Jamie's character is an ass and that I don't like him then it won't bother me so much if something happens to him.

Interesting episode so far. It is weird for me to hear Jamie with an American accent.

I love to hear this after umpteen billion comments I've read from people who apparently cannot deal with his *real* accent. XD

ooh is he a murderous thief? will have to wait and see...................

Well, he looked fabulous, and I enjoyed hearing his American accent again, but the dialogue was so awful it was (unintentionally) hilarious. Man, this is a badly written show. Oh, well. I hope he was well paid!

Chances are he got paid more for this guest spot then an episode of LOUK.

My favorite line was Horatio asking the medical examiner if the results of the blood test he was showing him were correct. No, Horatio, he's just messing with you! :p

It was awesome to see Jamie in such a different role so I'll just try to forget about the rest.

Oh, he was divine in that last scene and in the flashbacks. Yummy! Some beautiful and edgy shots that I can't wait to cap! <3<3<3<3<3

I've always argued Jamie has a family to support and any network TV appearance is good for his career, but I was rethinking all that by the midway point. However! As we neared the end of the episode and it was revealed he wasn't just the killer, but the totally unrepentant killer, and Jamie was AWESOME in his unrepentant glory, I completely understood why this was a VERY GOOD ROLE for him to take on. Yeah, the show is...not good, but Jamie really got to show us something different and I APPROVE OF THIS. He even gave us a different American accent. I was expecting to hear Lee Adama. Overall, I was very pleased with his scenes and will enjoy watching them again. :)

Putting Jamie's performance aside for a second, I do wish the murder was less WTF?! First, we're expected to believe the girl slept through her parents packing up the house during the storm AND that they didn't notice her sleeping with the door open. Then, her boyfriend freezes and doesn't do anything to try and prevent her murder.

Yeah, makes you kinda excited to see John Doe next year doesn't it?!

just finished the episode - and i'll be short in my attempt to actually get in time to work today.

all in all ot a bad episode. nobody shoot anybody, Eric and Calleigh did things together, H annoyed me as per usual and I'm still wondering where do this girls keep their keys/phone/paper-tissues, etc.....

now, to the important part - I loved Jamie. starting with the DB2 look, the way that he was all over that chair during the Q&A at the lab (he always ends up like that). then there were the clothes - pretty normal for CSIM and that's a good thing. and the eyes - almost green here for a moment. or at least this is how it looked on my screen.

i'll not go on to the subject of the accent because i do have to get to work - i'll just mention that no matter the accent his voice is going to my stomach.

that's it for now. I just hope that all the people watching CSIM regularly liked him and that it will end up being good exposure.

ok - i have to say it. did anyone noticed that there was not one frame (as far as i saw) with Ronnie and H together in it? i know i'm bad....

His eyes looked green on my tv too. And in the pictures above. Thought it was weird.

Not that I'm complaining! :-)
zegeekgirl From: zegeekgirl Date: October 10th, 2011 06:02 am (UTC) (Link Me)
That was... pretty much precisely what I expected to get. Except for the pretty, windblown shaggy hair, which was... pretty. *eyes glaze over* ;)

I agree with asta77 that the duplicity of the character is something we don't get to see Jamie do too much. Arguably, he did it better on Dollhouse IMO, but that's because he had a bit more screen time and a more well-rounded character to work with. On the whole it's still something I'm sure he finds appealing because he's playing against type. Not to mention the local shoot and the excellent Bruckheimer pay scale we speculated about so blatantly above. XD No-brainer for Jamie. And, sadly, kind of a no-brainer of a different sort for us, LOL. But what are you gonna dooooo?

(Please tell me I wasn't the only one who found it unintentionally hilarious that the murder weapon was a golf club?)

i blame the hour (7 am here when i started watching) and the lack of sleep for missing that. good catch.

ETA: great caps. and now i'm grining on my way to work on a Monday morning - thanks for that.

Needs more adorable slightly twangy ginger Bamber. If he's going to be evil, let us at least see him evil more.

Yes, there wasn't enough of him. I liked this accent better than the Lee accent (but the real deal is always the bestest). Seeing him as a real bad guy was nice. I've not seen everything he's done but it does feel like he tends toward characters who (at least think they) have the moral high ground. Thinking of like Dollhouse he was upset at Echo's lack of loyalty. *He* was the injured party in his mind. In the end on this he was like, "Yep, I'm bad. And?" I enjoyed that moment.

I've tried several times to get into any of the CSIs but I just can't. I will say that I loved watching Ainsley Hayes build a potato gun. It was like some kind of West Wing/Mythbusters crossover.

If the CSI franchise was deeper and explored the characters more, I think an argument could be made that Jamie was playing a sociopath. Usually the killers on these type of shows have some sort of emotional reaction to being caught, whether it's anger, fear or remorse. He just smirked. And he could have just knocked the girl out and fled the scene, but he continued to beat her with zero emotional response.

I watched the original CSI for several seasons, but never could get into the spinoffs. Both the Miami and NYC versions were on the bubble for renewal this past season.

I have to agree that the script was sub-par. And that Jamie's acting is superb, although I might be the teeniest bit biased. It was good to see him be delightfully evil. Does anyone else agree that British actors in general are just better? Alex Rodriguez was just terrible, and the others flat and uninteresting. Another case in point, BSG. Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell notwithstanding, the two best performers were the two British blokes.

I hope that he got lots of money for playing the baddie in this episode of CSI: Miami
