'Un jour mon père viendra' Update: Possible DVD Release Dates
First, let's start out with a previously-unreleased still from Un jour mon père viendra. In which Jamie brandishes a spoon. Clearly in the context of the film, this will make sense. ;)

(Thanks to Camino Filmverleih for this shot; the German distributor's site for the film is here, it's released on May 3rd there. Also get a load of the "Partner" page on that site; clearly it's the best one. Oof.)

Now, to the more important news... DVD release! Maybe. Well, here's the thing: Amazon.fr has a page up for what appears to be the French DVD release, slated for May 16th. Problem is, it's clearly one of those early placeholder pages with almost no information other than the release date, so it could very well change or be inaccurate. Nothing has been posted from Gaumont, either, which is particularly annoying because on the film's page there is now a link for DVD that goes to their store... and then in the store, the search for the title comes up empty. Real helpful, guys.

Anyway, we were waiting on more concrete DVD release news but it's taking a while, so - you've been alerted, keep your eyes peeled on those pages!  And note, it might also be worthwhile to watch this page, from French-Canadian distributor Remstar Films; they appear to be releasing UJMPV on June 5th, presumably in the Quebec French-speaking market. So this is potentially a Region 1 release (which I'm assuming Amazon.ca will carry, but not Amazon.com) that, IF the French release doesn't have English subtitles, very likely will given the country it's being sold in. (Also, any of you who aren't able to watch multi region DVDs in the States, you'd be able to watch this.)

3/6 - UPDATE!!: Managed to get an answer out of Gaumont's official Twitter to clear things up. According to them, the French DVD release date will actually be June 13th and it WILL include English subtitles! So the dates on the web right now are possibly just estimates; not sure how this affects the Remstar release date, so probably worth checking both sites anyway if you really need a Region 1 DVD.

That's good news about the subtitles, perfect excuse for a spot of shopping in Paris I'd say!

Thanks for the news! You guys are amazing! (note how I politely left the word "stalkers" out of that last sentence)

Kind of you. Although I wouldn't have taken offense anyway. (Plenty of reasons why not, but to start: we're providing a service for everyone, not just ourselves. Stalkers fall into the latter category rather squarely, I think you'll find. ;) )

Indeed, and highly appreciated, I promise you! How about detectives?

Maybe? It's more just good research than detective skills. I think we probably try to be good reporters more than anything. ;)

An enormous amount of thorough research, it seems. Absolutely love the idea of being a Jamie Bamber reporter!
