'Law & Order: UK' Season One - Target Exclusive Region 1 Release!
Yes, you are reading the headline right. The DVDs are being released tomorrow, Tuesday, March 23rd. After spotting the Law & Order: UK cover art in this weeks Target ad I emailed zegeekgirl wondering if this was some sort of mistake. Being the intrepid reporter she is, she dug deeper and found the DVDs for pre-order on Target's website. georgiesmith, over at louk_mattdevlin, emailed the folks over at TVShowsOnDVD.com and they have confirmed the Target exclusive, though received no advance word on the release. It's unbelievable that NBCU would release the series on DVD with absolutely no fanfare and before it airs on US television, but grab it while you can! It's unclear whether it's an online exclusive, as stated on the website, or can be picked up in stores. I'm going to swing by Target tomorrow morning and see if it's there.

Law & Order UK: DVD Cover Art (US Release)

Thanks to zegeekgirl and georgiesmith for their legwork on this while I was down with a headache last night. Your efforts are much appreciated!

ETA: TVShowsOnDVD.com now has posted about Season 1 of 'Law & Order: UK' on DVD. No new information, thought they seem to think the DVDs will also be available in stores.

Yeah, I'm still a little gobsmacked about the whole thing and will fully believe it when I have it in my hot little hands. ;) But if TVShowsOnDVD are convinced it's legit...

well, it's basically the same bonus on this "new DVD"...since they already released the 1st season on 2 separate DVDs (what a not brilliant idea, lol)

Yes it is the same bonus, so it wouldn't be of use to anyone in Europe. But anyone in the U.S. where the show hasn't aired at all, and especially without a multi-region player - this is kind of a big deal. ;)

It does say 'not available in stores.' Patience!

I was an X-Files fan. I trust NO ONE...and no website. ;)

*chortle* Exactly. The whole thing came from so far out of left field it warrants investigation. Why include it in the print ad if it's online-only? (I mean, I wouldn't put it beyond Target to have screwed up somewhere along the line, but still...)

Whoa! That is unbelievable that there was no announcement whatsoever. Don't they want people to buy this? *headdesk*

But I'm just happy that the DVDs are available to us. I had trouble downloading the episodes, so this is great. Once again, thank you!

I have some not great copies of the episodes, so I'm looking forward to seeing Jamie in all his glory. :)

Thanks for the heads up! How many episodes does this DVD include?
asta77 From: asta77 Date: March 22nd, 2010 09:59 pm (UTC) (Link Me)
The working theory is all thirteen episodes, which, if true, would make this a better deal than the UK release which split the series onto two DVD sets.

That would be very nice as I haven't seen the last set of episodes.

So weird that even TVshowsonDVD didn't know about this! They know everything and I watch their site like a hawk. Way to go NBCU and Target and whoever else I can blame. :)

The people who helped to create and write the show had no idea!

I just checked the Target app for the iPhone and it shows it listed as one of this weeks entertainment deals. Shows the following info:
Law & Order: The Seventh Year
(but has pic of L&O UK box w/ season one print)
sold in stores only $26.99
Prices, promotions, styles & availability may vary by store and online. Tune in Tuesday. In stores March 23. Release date subject to change. Limit 5 of each new-release movie per guest, except in ID or NM. Quantities limited: no rain checks.

So I have seen printed that it's only available online and now this says in stores. Who knew this would be such a mystery?

Buying DVDs should not be this much trouble! I'm heading to Target tomorrow morning. If the discs aren't there, I'll place my order. But my excitement is being underminded by NBCU. Shocking, I know! ;p

I got curious about the mix-up with L&O S7 (That was on the Target website, too, in the interactive weekly ad). So I checked Amazon to make sure that wasn't due for release tomorrow, as well. (Hence further confusion) It's not:

It's been out since January. So I guess that's just a programming error on Target's end? Who knows. One word: clusterfrak. ;)
