For those not already watching, here's the White Collar 101: Neal Caffrey is a charming criminal mastermind, a con-man, an "alleged" (as he likes to point out) thief and a convicted forger. Just three months shy of serving out a four year sentence for bond forgery, Neal escapes from prison. The reason? The love of his life, Kate, dumped him. Enter Peter Burke, the FBI agent who did what no one else could, catch (and convict) Neal Caffrey. Peter is tasked with catching Neal, again, and does. But looking at another four years in prison, Neal proposes a deal to Peter: parole him, with an electronic ankle monitor, and he'll be a consultant for the FBI, helping Peter catch other elusive, white collar, criminals. Now, instead of a super max prison cell, Neal has a two mile radius (which, if you don't know, is A LOT of territory in New York City) and, thanks to the equally charming and sympathetic June (Diahann Carroll), lives in an incredible mansion. Peter, meanwhile, does his darnedest to keep Neal out of trouble, not an easy job when Neal insists on tracking down his ex. There's also Peter's awesome wife Elizabeth, Neal's former/current partner in crime, Mozzie (Wilie Garson), some other great supporting and reoccurring characters...and a dog.
Thus begins a beautiful partnership. Literally. Have you seen Matt Bomer?

I admit my initial desire to see Jamie on White Collar was purely superficial. Jamie and Matt working side by side? That much beauty on screen together could kill me, but I would certainly die happy. But it is more than that (really). I can imagine the banter. White Collar has some great dialogue. My favorite line of Season 1, which will likely lose impact out of context, was Neal's, "I was forced Fed." And whether you've just watched Jamie on TV or seen him at a convention or read an interview with him, you know he's a quick wit.
Of course, Jamie also looks good out of a suit, as People magazine showed us.
Last year, People also picked Matt as one of the beautiful people. Closeups can be just as awe inspiring.
Beyond the shallow, after four seasons of Battlestar Galactica and a season of Law & Order: UK, I 'd love to see Jamie appear in something lighter. Not that White Collar doesn't have it's serious moments (the closing moments of the first season are a perfect example), but it's by and large a fun, lighthearted, "blue skies" show. It may only be an hour of television, but Battlestar Galactica's 'Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down' showed Jamie can be funny. His reactions to Ellen Tigh's behavior? Priceless. So White Collar could be the series to show off his range.
I've even gone so far as to come up with some specific scenarios I'd love to see Jamie in, but I don't want to step on the writers toes. ;) Instead, I'll keep my thoughts general and simply say I could envision him as a rival, the British version of Neal Caffrey, or an Interpol agent or art dealer.
But should my dream not become a reality, I also wouldn't mind seeing Jamie appear on USA's upcoming Facing Kate, starring his former co-star Michael Trucco. Granted, I would spend half the episode going, "Lee! Sam!", but it's been over a year since Galactica ended, so I say bring on the reunions!
Now that you know my dream guest star casting, what's yours? What series would you love to see Jamie on? And, since I did it, feel free to pimp your show.
