I've got mixed feelings about the ep.
I liked the urgency of the first part and Matt's no nonsense attitude. I also LOVED Alesha's comeback about not being an assistant (Alesha generally kicked ass).

However I'm a bit unsure about the case, especially Jake's crusade for a life sentence. I'm just not sure if I was in the jury I'd have convicted her for life. Definetely send her to prison for a prolonged time but for life? She may have caused the deaths but she couldn't have known exactly what would happen and she did look scared out of her mind in the news agent.
I mean even if there were sound arguments for putting her away for life it was an odd case for Jake to get so passionate about. It felt like they were putting the whole responsibility on the girl because the guy who had actually pulled the trigger wasn't there anymore.
All in all it was an interesting case though.

On a sidenote: not so sure about Jake getting a bit flirtatious with Alesha. We already had that kind of relationship...

Yes, I sort of felt the same way (see my subsequent comment in a minute)...

The case perplexed me. I think, in part, because British law differs a bit from U.S. law. But also, while Joanne (or was it Joanna?) was clearly guilty of numerous crimes and deserved prison time, it was also clear she did not plot any murders and didn't foresee them happening. Maybe she thought her ex could be killed, but not the others. The video footage from the shop showed she was nervous holding the gun and threatening the cashier.

Jake flirting with Alesha had a been there/done that feel. Not that James flirted with Alesha like that, but the writers already played the potential office romance angle.
