I remember this from the flagship. To add the truth, I remember my "Huh?" from the flagship episode. I lived in NY at the time and I remember thinking they'd combined two then-ongoing murder cases -- ineptly. This time I thought, Annabel Mallion's scared ex-wife was the thread that held it all together.
I thought Team Law turned in fantastic performances. I couldn't help but think that Ronnie wanted to be alone with that M.E.! This felt like Matt's case, and was nicely crafted balance to "Safe." Jamie does such amazing things with his face, I loved how much solo screen time he had in this ep., but my favorite scene is the ones where they are going over the crime scene for the second time. And Harriet is brilliant as Natalie.
As for Team Order. I'm not happy. The lawyer in me wants to jump into the scene whenever the law gets wonky but I find it's the only time I'm engaged in the second half. The writers are developing Alesha into a stronger character, and I appreciate it but I find something is off and I can't put my finger on it. Dominic as Jake is terrible. There, I said it. He is dead behind the eyes like a shark. And Peter Davison is so under-utilized, it's not fair. Bill Patterson was given such gold in terms of material in contrast. I feel like he is being wasted in this part.
