Jamie Bamber Cast in TNT's New Series, 'Perception'
More great news for Jamie....and us. AOL TV's MO Ryan has just broken the news that Jamie has been cast in a reoccurring role on TNT's 'Perception'. Here what we know so far:

Jamie Bamber, who played Lee "Apollo" Adama on 'Battlestar Galactica' and went on to appear in 'Law & Order: UK,' will have a recurring role on the new TNT series 'Perception,' which stars Eric McCormack as Dr. Daniel Pierce, an odd neuroscience professor who helps the FBI crack cases.

Bamber will guest at least twice on 'Perception' as a new professor who catches the eye of Allison Bannister (Rachel Leigh Cook), Pierce's FBI handler and former student.

'Perception,' which also stars Kelly Rowan and Arjay Smith, premieres in the summer of 2012.

TV by the Numbers has some additional background on the series, which began production last week. And from Jamie's awesome representative, I was able to learn he will be playing Dr. Michael Hathaway.

How excited are we for the fall summer TV season to begin?

Huzzah! I'm so pleased he's picking up somewhat varied work and I do enjoy a man in tweed!

But summer 2012? What sort of crazy UK like scheduling is this! :P

TNT frequently counter-program their original fare during the summer, to counter-program the standard fall/spring schedule of most networks. Many basic cablers do in the states. (Mad Men has traditionally run during the summer for AMC, though they show other series of theirs at different times of the year.) Point is, it's not uncommon though the wait is frustrating given that we're not yet at the start of the current fall season. Sigh.

Anyway, the bonus is that if Jamie's role is only recurring, he may yet have time to do other gigs. That air sooner. ;)

It was more the fact they're filming it so far in advance, I didn't think keeping things in the can was as typical in the US than it is here but I suppose you learn something new every day!

It happens. Though almost always with shows that are brand new and haven't found their legs/been renewed yet. It's not exclusively limited to pilots, though that is usually where it happens. (Terra Nova has been in the can for aaaages, but that's because they keep tinkering with the FX and rewriting/reshooting the damn thing. XD)

What happens then re actor contracts? Are they just in limbo for a really long time with no idea if the show will be renewed as there's no ratings to judge? I realise this doesn't actually come under the heading of 'Bamber News' anymore, I'm just curious as to how it works!

"How excited are we for the fall TV season to begin?"

Except for the part where it's debuting "Summer 2012." THE WAITS. ALWAYS THE WAITS.

Setting aside the waiting part.... EEEEEP. It wasn't anything that was on my interest radar at all, but in its favor a) there is no one I despise in it (heh), and b) LeVar Burton has a recurring role, too. YES. Geordi makes things instantly more quality.

It's kind of my favorite Community plotline ever. And I like a LOT of plotlines on that show. XD

this sounds really interesting. even with the wait. fortunately we'll have other things to keep us occupied during that time (ok, i'll stop trying to convince myself now).

the show seems interesting enough, the cast seems ok and being a professor has the added bonus of a low-chance of ending up dead.

Hmmm, this article says RLC's name is Allison Bannister. Another article and imdb says her name is Kate Moretti. The second possibility creates a whole world in my brain where Kate has a sister named Victoria who is a deputy in Wyoming. Hilarity (or more likely angst) ensues.
