Huzzah! I'm so pleased he's picking up somewhat varied work and I do enjoy a man in tweed!

But summer 2012? What sort of crazy UK like scheduling is this! :P

TNT frequently counter-program their original fare during the summer, to counter-program the standard fall/spring schedule of most networks. Many basic cablers do in the states. (Mad Men has traditionally run during the summer for AMC, though they show other series of theirs at different times of the year.) Point is, it's not uncommon though the wait is frustrating given that we're not yet at the start of the current fall season. Sigh.

Anyway, the bonus is that if Jamie's role is only recurring, he may yet have time to do other gigs. That air sooner. ;)

It was more the fact they're filming it so far in advance, I didn't think keeping things in the can was as typical in the US than it is here but I suppose you learn something new every day!

It happens. Though almost always with shows that are brand new and haven't found their legs/been renewed yet. It's not exclusively limited to pilots, though that is usually where it happens. (Terra Nova has been in the can for aaaages, but that's because they keep tinkering with the FX and rewriting/reshooting the damn thing. XD)

What happens then re actor contracts? Are they just in limbo for a really long time with no idea if the show will be renewed as there's no ratings to judge? I realise this doesn't actually come under the heading of 'Bamber News' anymore, I'm just curious as to how it works!
