BBC America Discussion Thread: Episode 5x06, "Deal" + SPOILER warning...

Okay, BBC America first-timers, it's that time: Time for your post directing you to the previous thread for the UK airing of "Deal", which is HERE. What I'd like to stress this week is that in the case of this particular episode, you should NOT look at that thread before watching, as spoilers abound and the comments are many. But it is there for afterward, should you need it. Please, weigh in with your thoughts.

Next week, most of us will be participating in the discussion for "Survivor's Guilt" I'm sure, so we will all be on the same page then and comments will go in the new thread.

Also, something we weren't sure we would bring to everyone's attention or not, but as it was posted on All Things Law & Order and tweeted around a bit, we figured we should issue a heads-up: BBC America has now posted episode summaries for the remainder of Season 3 (i.e. Series 6) on their website. Needless to say, you will be spoiled for the direction of the show following the big two-parter if you read these, so we highly recommend treading carefully; nevertheless, they are HERE if you need to know (or needed to be warned where not to look!)

Is Season 3 the current season in the UK? And you are saying they have posted summaries of upcoming unaired episodes? (just checking bc I can't keep ep names or season numbers straight).

And if they are releasing summaries of upcoming episodes, why would they do that? Just curious.

Here's the breakdown again of US vs. UK:

UK Series 1 & 2 = US Season 1 (13 episodes)
UK Series 3 & 4 = US Season 2 (13 episodes)
UK Series 5 & 6 = US Season 3 (13 episodes)

BBC America is right in the middle of Season 3, and tonight they are airing the final episode of what constituted Series 5 in the UK. ITV breaks each filmed batch of 13 episodes up into two installments, and frequently goes for months in the middle with no new episodes; meanwhile BBC America airs each batch of 13 non-stop with no breaks. Hence, next week, the first episode that has NOT aired yet in the UK - which is also the second-half of the two-parter - will actually air in the US first. (The UK air dates for 'Survivor's Guilt" and the other five episodes are still TBA.)

Many networks post brief episode summaries of upcoming eps on their websites; we're talking capsule summaries here, not detailed synopses. It's not uncommon, and the only reason it's notable at all in this case is because due to events in episodes prior, certain aspects of those upcoming summaries constitute major spoilers. (Now, why would BBCA post them taking THAT into consideration? - that's another matter. Either a) they're not paying attention, b) they don't think we're paying that much attention, either, or c) they don't care about those in the audience who are is invested enough to go "Wait... hang on a minute, AAAARGH.")

Thank you! And will you let us know when a "previously unaired anywhere" episode is airing? This poor fangirl is always lost!

Is Survivor's Guilt the two parter with the big thing/cliffhanger? And that is the one that will air in the US first? Next week? (Sorry!)

All the remaining episodes on BBC America (i.e. the next six weeks, AFTER tonight) are unaired in the UK.

"Deal," which is airing TONIGHT (in less than half an hour from right now, actually), is the first half of the two parter. "Survivor's Guilt" picks up after the cliffhanger ending, and will air next week. (And I would imagine, many in the UK will be scrambling to get their hands on it since they have not had closure yet...)

Is there any promo video about the next episode? Other than the one over at the bbca site because the site does not allow me to see it.

I didn't even know BBCA had a clip up already until you mentioned it! I just took a look at it and it's pretty spoilery. I can't find that it's been uploaded to YouTube, but I'll keep checking and let you know. Thanks.
