No, you're not the only one at all. As it was happening and they said the murder weapon was a golf club, I actually said to my mom "Ha, watch, Jamie'll wind up being the murderer. He's a big golfer..." It seemed like a stupid remark since it didn't seem like the Storm Chasers could even be connected to the dead girl....

I was actually impressed that his American accent was different in this one than on BSG. It sounded like he was trying to be a bit more casual and/or Southern in it. The story didn't make much sense (and I have honestly never watched a single frame of any CSI show before so had no clue what I was in for) but he was really good. And creepy.

I am not sure if I'm happy or sad that he didn't wind up getting killed before the end of it!

What's sad is I was pulling for him being a killer if it meant avoiding another onscreen death. ;)

I was impressed his accent was different too. Most actors attempting an American accent are lucky if they can do one well.

Indeed. And by my count, this is about the third variation on an American accent that he's done. A+, BAMBER.

LOL Although I'm pretty sure Florida has the death penalty so he's a goner in the long run anyway.

I can't quite my finger on why it was different than Lee's, but he definitely sounded more laidback for a start. The only other British actor I know of who can do different sounding American accents is Damian Lewis. Most of the others seem to either stick to a sort of mid-Atlantic (i.e. Hugh Laurie) or Southern drawl (far too many!)

Agree. Hugh does an awesome American accent, but it's pretty much the same accent in all his American roles. And don't get me started on Brits doing a Southern accent. It's usually a disaster.

My mind goes immediately to Tom Wilkonson and Michael Gambon for a start. Oh and Albert Finney. Brilliant actors all, but their Southern accents are painful.

Albert Finney can half-ass an accent all he likes and get away with it, because he's Albert Finney. ;) Brian Cox's Southern accent isn't quite perfect, but he drawls with such panache that it's quite good indeed.

Here's one that gets overlooked a lot: Kenneth Branagh in Dead Again. He does a superb, flat LA/West Coast accent that sounds like you'd imagine a Raymond Chandler character would sound. (He's also been guilty of hamming up Southern accents in other stuff, but in that he nails it.)

Oh, yes, Ken in Dead Again is brilliant (and one of my fave films). I'd forgotten about that, whereas his accent in Wild Wild West and some others is more than painfully bad.

You're right, Albert Finney can get away with anything just because he's Albert Finney. Had forgotten about Cox, but I think he manages it better than some.

What's also interesting is to hear actual Americans on UK programs speaking with American accents and sounding "off". There's a particular cadence that a lot of them pick up which makes them sound like they're faking it. I remember seeing people complaining about John Barrowman's accent on Dr Who/Torchwood when he's moved to the US at the age of 8 and didn't go back to the UK until he was in his 20s...

location of show

even though the show is called CSI Miami they actually film it in LA. they only film in Florida when they need scene shots.

I had the exact same thought, *and* the same thought about how they shouldn't be connected, and then did the "but of course, this is a CSI show, so whomever seems like they should be the least likely suspect is clearly going to be the perp" thing. XD Plus, to be honest, it didn't help that the writer (sorry, can't recall his name) who originally gave us the scoop that Jamie was doing the show on Twitter described his character as "A storm chaser who is chasing more than the weather" - I figured off of that, he was obviously up to no good and 50/50 that he'd end up being the murderer. (Actually, maybe more because he IS the big name guest star; really, what are the odds it would have been the other guy's master plan?)

When the third guy with them got shot, I thought maybe it was just two murders/near-murders going on in the story, totally unrelated. I was pretty sure Jamie wasn't just going to be in the one scene (his first when he and the other guy were called in to talk about the turtle and the armadillo and the toys LOL), but not 100% what his character's involvement was.

Not knowing much about the the show (I know it sounds ridiculously silly, but I don't watch that many US procedurals, esp the hi-tech ones), I had no idea. It was really ridiculous in the end, esp because of the whole girl sleeping in the parents' trailer w/out being noticed part.

But it was pretty funny that it was Jamie in the kitchen with a golf club.
