Thinky thoughts

Ioan is HOT! Angry Jamie is HOT! I've been away for a while (I've missed you guys!) but I couldn't miss this! I wish they'd had a scene together.

So, as a lawyer, watching the deposition was infuriating; and watching the doctors say that they killed a patient to her parents was enraging and watching the ex-patient's spouse rescind the organ donation . . . I just wanted to throw my tv out of the window. I usually have patience for this kind of thing, but today was just too much.

I am currently trying to learn Portuguese and my pronunciation is really awful, so the scenes with Dr. Park warm my heart.

My love for Ving Rhames apparently has no limits. I love him more with each episode. "I believe that I threatened to hit Buck" is a wonderful line.

Ty is growing on me.

Re: Thinky thoughts

Not a lawyer, but I do work for them ;), so I, too, was going, "Noooooo" a couple of times. As I mentioned below, Mark suing Ty didn't bother me so much. Angry husband. Nuisance suit. Made for TV drama. Yadda Yadda. But no way in Hell, even if they did totally screw up and it was only a matter of how much they would have to spend to settle the forthcoming lawsuit, would a hospital or doctor EVER admit guilt. And I know, unless it's an organ donation to a family member, donors can't dictate who receives their organs. And there certainly aren't take backs!

Re: Thinky thoughts

It was like they had good ideas and didn't have a legal expert on staff to consult. Alienation of affection is still on the books in some states, usually a cause of action after the divorce is final and you can prove damages. It would be hard to prove that the affair caused your spouse to leave but that's what lawsuits are for. Suing the hospital, well, if it was a private hospital and Mark was a shareholder maybe but what the lawyer said last night was just nonsense. The CG lawyers would be annoyed at the suit and hit back that it was a sham. The thing with the donor really burned me because I am a devout Catholic. Suicide is a sin, attempting suicide is treated with compassion. You know, the whole Jesus reached out to the sinners thing?! A person gives in to despair and the usually, the church will counsel him or her who survives. The older church doctrines were about burials more than anything else and again, a possibly good idea that the writers absolutely messed up that they could have gotten right if they had spoken to anyone who knew anything about the subject matter. And organ donation is too important a topic to be treated that way.

The thing about the Risk Manager's appearance causing silence to fall. That really happens and I thought it was funny.

Re: Thinky thoughts

I think Mark, the wronged husband, wanting to lash out at the man he believes broke up his marriage and trying to avoid the real reasons why makes some sense to me. And there are always lawyers willing to accept ridiculous cases in the hopes of a settlement (and CG seems to have ONE attorney out to get them for some unknown reason). But, yeah, suing the entire hospital? A step too far.

I think the show has dropped the ball on a serious discussion of organ donation. This is the third time they've dealt with the subject and none of the storylines have been handled well. I was most troubled by the woman who was going to donate to her sister, but she died before the transplant could be done. The woman wouldn't even consider giving the organ to someone in desperate need of one? Instead she took it home to eat? :/
