Well, hey now. THAT you see above is Jamie's first publicity still in-character as Kev in The Smoke... and courtesy of Sky 1's latest press release on their Autumn/Winter season, here's a new synopsis of the show!:

The Smoke, produced by Kudos Film and TV and created and written by Lucy Kirwood (Skins), follows the adrenaline fuelled and gut wrenchingly emotional stories of the White Watch crew of a London Fire Station. Filmed against the backdrop of East London’s extraordinarily diverse and colourful landscape, The Smoke stars Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica, Law & Order: UK) as Kev, a veteran firefighter searching for justice after the most traumatic call-out of his career causes him to question himself both as a hero and as a man. Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch) plays Trish, Kev's girlfriend, who is striving to hold on to love and hope against the odds while Rhashan Stone (Strike Back) is Kev's best mate Mal, whose identity is tested to the extreme.

It doesn't list an exact date still, but bloody hell, have they got your attention now? ;) Rather.

Uh, yeah.

They've done a remarkable job with the make-up, making him look worn-out and exhausted, and man, do his eyes pop out! I love that his little asymmetrical frown-wrinkle is still up there. :D

I keep telling myself not to get too excited about this until I know for sure I can see it here in the US.

My initial reaction is--wow, I'm kinda glad that Monday Mornings thing didn't work out. Worse comes to worst, I'll invest in a multi-region DVD player (which aren't too expensive anymore), but I'm sure those of us in the States will be able to find it online eventually, or on Netflix or Hulu. We might have to wait a little longer to see it, but good things come to those who wait.
