Bloody hell. That was quite something. I don't think I breathed at all for the last 30 minutes! What an amazing episode.

The scene with Trish and Dennis was absolutely heartbreaking. I think the thing that really made it for me though was Kev's complete and utter confusion when he learned the truth. He hadn't a clue what to do. I actually thought the psychiatrist worked really well in these scenes, any more would have spoilt the effect.

I particularly loved the pacing this episode, the cuts between the intense emotional scenes and the quieter moments were very well done.

Everyone's already said it, but the acting was superb. Jamie was utterly, believably all over the place and Taron Egarton was superb. I can't even begin to imagine what that must have taken out of them, but I suspect TE"s comment that it was a "complete nightmare" is something of an understatement!

I think I'm leaning a little toward asta77's assessment that the psych doesn't quite work, although I totally agree w/ you that limiting her appearance allowed for a more emotional overall scene. Jamie and Taron are both, for different reasons, so palpably confused, scared and heartbroken. That's what I love so much about that scene, and again it's LK giving us something we don't usually get to see which is two male characters who have grown very attached to one another, suddenly devastated in a really unguarded, raw emotional moment. I actually cowered a few times! O_o

I watched most of it through my fingers, I had my hands over my eyes for most of that scene!

I wonder if my reaction to the psychiatrist is partially due to the fact that I don't watch much television (unless is has Jamie in it obviously ;) so it's not a trope that I have come across before. I can certainly see how it could become a major distraction if over used, but I thought it worked well here.

And in case you're wondering, I haven't had a chance to watch the next episode yet, and it's driving me mad!!!
