You're getting Quorum Lee here as a stand-in photo, because it seemed appropriate. ;)

Okay, Jamie, time to log in to Twitter and take that "Unemployed" bit off your bio. ;)  One day after The Messengers news dropped, TV Line just reported that Jamie's been cast in NCIS as the husband of Ellie Bishop, played by Emily Wickersham:

enhanced-6725-1400105771-11

He'll appear in the Thanksgiving episode airing next month, and here's what we know so far:

TVLine has learned exclusively that Battlestar Galactica alum Jamie Bamber will appear in a November episode of TV’s most watched drama as the oft-mentioned, yet-to-be-seen NSA attorney Jake Malloy.

“We’ve waited a long time to meet Bishop’s husband, and we’ve found him in Jamie Bamber,” says NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg. “Jamie is a charming, talented actor, and we’re thrilled to have him on-board for this Thanksgiving episode and some exciting surprises to come.”

Bolding that last bit as it indicates they probably have him in mind for future episodes, too. Stay tuned for updates, this one's not far off. (We still have to wait four more months to find out how Rizzoli & Isles resolves!)

We have fabulous news! In the not too distant future, Jamie will be back on our TV screens! Jamie has been cast in a recurring role in The CW's new midseason series, The Messengers. When The CW announced the series pickup back in February, they released this brief description of the plot: "When a mysterious object crashes down to earth, a group of seemingly unconnected strangers die from the energy pulse, but then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending Apocalypse."

Bz1W_qsCUAArYYt.jpg large

In announcing Jamie's addition to the cast, Entertainment Weekly's plot description either has further details regarding the plot or, in the ensuing months, the shows concept has evolved a bit:

The Messengers...tells the story of five strangers affected when a mysterious object hits Earth. After collapsing, all five individuals come back to life just hours later with inexplicable powers, including strength and the power to heal. But once things begin to become more clear, those affected realize that they might be Earth’s only hope for stopping the Rapture...or perhaps, they’re causing it.

Jamie will play Vincent Plowman, “the unapologetically aggressive co-chairman of Plowman Family Farms, one of the world’s most successful agricultural companies. Along with his older brother Mark (Riley Smith), he is the face of a business on the cutting edge of new farming technology that has the potential of eliminating drought and famine worldwide. But in the end, Vincent’s favored son status may uproot his ambitious plans in more ways than one.”

Checking IMDB, I found Riley Smith is actually five years younger than Jamie. It's easy to assume, when casting, the producers and network went with who they thought best fit the parts and Vincent will be the older brother by the time the show hits our screens. ;)

As the resident CW expert (translated: I watch way more CW programming than zegeekgirl ;), I have to say I am very pleased by Jamie's casting in one of their shows. Not only do they have a strong slate of programming this season, once you are part of the CW 'family' they like to keep you around. If you look at the resumes of their current leads, you'll find they appeared previously on other CW shows. Before he was the Arrow, Stephen Amell was a werewolf not long for this world on The Vampire Diaries. And TVD is Ian Somerhalder's third series with the network. So, here's to possible long term employment for Jamie. :)

And now for a little bonus related to Jamie's upcoming film Before I Sleep. A music video for Billy Sharff's "I Was Lost" featuring footage from the film has been posted to YouTube. You can get a glimpse of Jamie at about the 1:26 mark.

Before we go any further, just put your feet up and enjoy this nugget from the Leland J. Adama and Samuel T. Anders Show. Hottest ticket in town. ;)

Of course, Jamie and Michael Trucco appeared at Wizard World Nashville this past weekend and though unfortunately their panel (moderated by Jenna Busch) was predictably awesome according to reports, no video has hit the 'net as of yet.  If/when it does, we'll update this post! (and tweet an alert) - but in the meantime, enjoy this one full-sized and more photos courtesy of WW's Facebook Gallery:

In other news!:  We have another international DVD/BluRay release date for John Doe: Vigilante; it will hit home video on October 22nd in Australia, just about a week after its theatrical release there.  For those keeping track, that's now Region 2 and Region 4 in which some version of the film is available; unfortunately there is still no U.S. DVD date pending from Main Street Films. However, those who want to seek it out on disc can get it. (And your laptop should play it just fine, if it's a fairly recent model ;) )  No word on any specific extras on the Aussie release, though we'll update if we get info.

Oh, and here's the cover!:

Now everyone can see the outstanding "Reading Rainbow Live" event with the BSG Cast, no matter where you are!  Well... you will be able to, soon. ;)

(Seriously, take it from us... you're going to want to see this. ;) )

CLICK HERE to pre-order a streaming download of the event, which is $10 - every cent of which is added to the additional fundage for the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter program, so it's basically something you all need. Now. ;)  (There are also some terrific accessories available, and other downloads.... gotta say, I'm still tempted by the LeVar/Donald Glover on a boat download, because, yes. "Set phasers to love me!" *giggle*)

The download is currently estimated to be available in December. We should all have a simulcast viewing w/ live chat... who's down? ;)

This past week Jamie's IMDb page was updated with a new publicity photo. WOO! And a really awesome one at that by photographer Manfred Baumann, as you can see. :)

After a little bit of digging, we found some more terrific photos of Jamie at Mr. Baumann's website - and many more gorgeous celebrity and travel pics you may wish to check out.

And for your listening pleasure, you have the opportunity to hear Jamie perform the role of Oberon in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream available through audible.com in the U.S. and amazon.co in the U.K. You will need to download apps to play the audio recordings (if you don't already have accounts and haven't already done so), but the apps are free. Some other notable performers from the production include Stacy Keach, Glenne Headley, David Krumholtz, Simon Helberg and Hector Elizondo.

Sorry for the delay getting this up; asta77 is still here visiting and we've been out and about last night and today. :)  We were very lucky to be able to attend the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter live event with the BSG cast yesterday at the YouTube studio space in L.A., along with our pal dramaturgca (She and I had actually backed the RR Kickstarter once already before the BSG event was announced; we sort of acted impulsively not knowing at the time when the date for the show would be, but hey... it's an amazing cause that means a lot to both of us. Luckily it panned out that asta77 was able to fly out and take our third ticket!)

Jamie, EJO, Katee, Tricia, Trucco and last-minute add James Callis were the cast members participating, and of course the ever-delightful LeVar Burton. They read two kids' books to a group of about 20-25 kids (some of whom provided some pretty great entertainment all their own; the highlight might have been one little girl who raised her hand to ask a question only to state "I'm going to have a baby brother!" XD); followed by a Q&A and a short meet & greet. A really amazing afternoon all around!

asta77 took some pretty terrific photos, which we did manage to upload last night after we got back from dinner. The good news, as we understand it, too is that there WILL be video from the event available online, sometime near the end of the month. We'll keep an eye out and get another post up as soon as that happened... but in the meantime, here are a few more shots behind the cut; you can see all the ones we uploaded HERE.

Helloooooo everyone!

Slow news month, we know. We've tweeted out a few odds and ends related to what Jamie's up (including some convention pics) but nothing major. (In fandom life anyway; in real life, it's another matter. Myself, I quit one job and started another one...waheyyy!)

That's about to change slightly though as we have NEW telly to watch and discuss - well, an hour of it anyway.  Anyone who tunes into tonight's Rizzoli & Isles summer finale, please feel free to desposit your thoughts in the comments below; it's the first of two eps for Jamie AND it's the hiatus break, so it'll be a while before we know how his arc wraps up. Feel free also to entertain yourselves with wild and unlikely plot speculation, too. ;) Hey, we're only human...and we've got time to kill...

By the way, you'll notice a lack of image up top because TNT only seem to have gotten worse with their pre-release promotional materials; there's nothing on their press extranet for tonight's ep. I know, it's a cliffhanger episode, but FFS guys. (There ARE images out there somewhere; TV Guide has one.) Will update w/ a screenshot from the episode when we can. And now we have a screenshot! Say "hallelujah"...

IN THE MEANTIME, however...  because this kind of doesn't merit a post of its own, it's an opportunity to point out that Before I Sleep - the film Jamie shot a bit part for in 2012 - now has a distributor. And apparently his part is big enough to merit a production still of his own.... HEY THERE, SIR:

jamie-bamber-paul-river-9

You're welcome, everybody.

(Also of absolutely no consequence: Both characters in Rizzoli & Isles and Before I Sleep are called Paul. If you need a reason to link them in one post, THERE YOU GO. *curtsey* ;) )

This past weekend Jamie appeared alongside Dad EJO at the London Film & Comic-Con. ;)  There are LOTS of photos on Twitter, most of them fans' personal snapshots so we won't repost those; you can see them here.

The above, excellent pic is from the BSG panel on Saturday, which we're hoping some footage turns up from online as it was apparently very good; will update this post if any clips turn up!

And now, further convention news:
- This week it was announced that Jamie would join Richard Hatch's annual BSG panel at San Diego Comic-Con; it takes place Thursday, July 24th at 10:30am in room 6BCF.
- Jamie will also present at the annual Eisner Awards, honoring excellence in comics, on Friday night at SDCC. The Eisners take place at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront; all SDCC badge holders get in free, while seats are available.

The full SDCC Schedule is available here!  Jamie may also do a signing at some point while he's at the con, though nothing's been announced yet; we'll update with that info if we get it.
UPDATED: Signing info!  No dates/times yet, we'll add that shortly when it's posted - but Jamie will be signing at the Quantum Mechanix (QMx) booth #3249 during SDCC.
UPDATED PART DEUX!: Well if you're at SDCC, you'll have plenty of time to stop by and meet Jamie!  He's signing at QMx on Saturday, 7/26 from 1:15pm - 6pm, and again on Sunday from 10am - 4pm.  That's over 10 hours.  Go say hi.  He's flippin' lovely. We promise. ;)

Jamie R&I Post

TV Line has some specifics on Jamie's two episode arc on Rizzoli & Isles. Jamie will be playing "Paul Wescourt, a successful prosecutor who is accused of killing his mistress". His first episode, 'Burden of Proof', will air on TNT in the U.S. on Tuesday, September 2nd. He'll appear again in the first episode following the series midseason break.

Rizzoli & Isles is scheduled to air fifteen episodes this season. With the midseason break coming late in the season (and the term "midseason break" often network code for several weeks of repeats or sporting events), I would assume we won't have too long to wait to learn Paul's fate. Will he be innocent, guilty, or joining a long list of character's Jamie has played who will most definitely not be making a return appearance? ;)

While doing interviews at SuperNova in Perth, Jamie was a bit vague when asked about upcoming projects. Knowing he doesn't like to talk about gigs until they are a done deal, we'll assume the ink just dried on the contract. ;) And while neither Jamie nor TNT have made any announcement regarding his role on Rizzoli & Isles, producer Jan Nash, @JanNash100, and writer Katie Wech, @StickHippo, tweeting out the news this afternoon is good enough for us. :)

Nash Tweet
Wech Tweet

Even better news, Jan Nash also shared Jamie would be around for a couple of episodes. Jamie's first episode, "Burden of Proof" (title via Wikipedia), will likely air Tuesday, September 2nd here in the US. Since that is right after Labor Day weekend, it's possible it may not air until September 9th, but I don't recall TNT doing a lot of schedule juggling for holidays.

And that's all we know for the moment. Hopefully, with the news out it shouldn't be long before TNT and the media make it all official with details and stuff. :)

More round-up from Jamie's convention stops Down Under, and this time no full audio from the panel has turned up (YET. ;) ) However, we do have...

- Some terrific pictures courtesy of fan blog Fruitless Pursuits; you can see one up top, please visit their Facebook gallery (visible w/out logging in) to see the rest.  Also, they have a brief interview with Jamie in their latest podcast (it's near the top of the recording, about 10 mins. in.)

- The website Access Reel posted a rather excellent 9-minute video interview; here's that clip!:

- Another site, House of Geekery also has an audio interview up w/ some photos, you can see/hear all of that here!

If anything else turns up, we'll add to this post.

UPDATE: New 10-minute interview courtesy of 6PR News Radio:

ALSO: Those on Twitter over the weekend may have noticed Kerry tweeting about a new project she's working on, which is a live-action web series entitled Attack On Space.  It's based on an extremely popular Japanese manga and anime entitled Attack on Titan (the anime has been on my "to watch" list for quite some time now; I should get on that.)  The series will have a Kickstarter campaign soon once they finish editing their sizzle reel and we can all tweet, RT, reblog and such the heck out of it.  But in the meantime, they have a production blog up on Tumblr HERE; here's a sneak peek from the shoot. (Kerry is playing the mother of the main character):

Okay folks, we only have audio of Jamie's convention panel this time.... but it's REALLY GOOD audio! Many, many thanks to our anonymous friend who recorded this for us! And there are some quite interesting moments this time around, particularly some good stories about Band of Brothers and a little bit of theater discussion. (dramaturgca and I are all fired up about Jamie as Cassius now. YES. THAT. Beautiful, charming, WILL STAB EVERYONE IN THE FACE. That needs to happen. XD)

Stream, stream, stream away...

In the meantime, we haven't had a ton of great pics out of this show. (There are a lot of fan photos on Twitter, but as is our norm, not terribly comfortable swiping other people's photo ops; they are a bit personal.) But the official pic is above, and the fabulous Ming-Na Wen shared this one on Twitter. (We may have enthusiastically responded with the notion that Jamie really ought to get some quality guest work out of Agents of SHIELD. Maybe. I dunno. ;) )...

Well THAT was fun!  Grand time had by all last night at the Hero Complex Film Festival in L.A., and a really wonderful Q&A featuring Jamie, Mary, Eddie and RDM. (Sadly, Katee wasn't able to make it out as she is still shooting Longmire, and Bear got sick and had to cancel.)

UPDATE: Hero Complex's next-day report, complete with quotes and more, is now live!

Hero Complex promised panel clips so we're keeping our eyes peeled; look out for a new post w/ clips when it turns up.  (May also have a line on some fan-shot footage, but unconfirmed yet. Stand by....)  Some of the highlights included *everyone*'s EJO impression. (I had really wanted to finally see Jamie do it with Eddie in the room, but I wasn't expecting Mary to bust one out too. Heeee. And she threw in a Michael Rymer impression for good measure.)  Plus just generally great comments and feelings across the board, now that they've got a good amount of reflection on the show. Oh, and one little bit where Kerry semantically corrected Jamie from the audience regarding the birth of their children. Oh, Kez. YOU ARE THE BEST. <3

So in the meantime, here are some photos for you; took lots myself though my focus was acting up a little. You should probably have the professional photos first. ;) -

Many more images behind the cut!Collapse )

Heads up, Antipodean readers, it's another chance for you to meet Jamie this summer.  He is currently booked to appear at both of this summer's Supanova Expo conventions in Australia:

Supanova Sydney, which takes place June 13-15.
and Supanova Perth, which is June 20-22.

(I do find it kind of hilarious that Star Trek Continues made the banner cut. ;) )

You can find more details at the big damn Supanova Expo website; dates and times for signings are up, schedule for his Q&As are still pending.  Autographs are AU$30, photo ops AU$40.  Also, as per usual: any convention appearance is subject to his availability at that time and a film or TV commitment could force him to cancel.

(Thank you meshel73 for the heads up! :) )

Well, it didn't take long for more The Better Half news. Woo! Jamie announced earlier this evening his co-star is the lovely Kathleen Rose Perkins and, bless Kathleen, she has already posted a photo from set! If they could take turns doing that each day, it would be awesome. ;)

JamieKathleenTwitterPic

Here's the link to @KRosePerkins if you want to follow her on Twitter.

So, doing a bit of recon, I discovered Kathleen is a fellow Michigander. Like me, not Jamie. Though his Dad is from Detroit and she grew up outside of Detroit so, hey, that gives them something to chat about besides work. And not only is Kathleen currently starring in the TV series Episodes, but will appear in the upcoming film adaption of Gone Girl. Now, in large part because I don't have Showtime, I have not seen Episodes, but I did find some clips featuring her on YouTube and, between the plot description we have for The Better Half and what I've now seen of her work on Episodes this is some good casting. (Not to mention the shallow of how great they look together. :)

For more funny, including her appearance on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, click HERE.Collapse )

You are probably thinking, "Why is she using a photo from 'The Smoke? for this post?" Well, because........

BetterHalfTweet

Instead of typecasting, we're going with he did such an awesome job the first time around the production knew what it was getting. ;) As you can see, Jamie was bit lacking with the details, so zegeekgirl and I have been searching the far corners of the internet to see what we could come up with. Now, we would love to send you to the official The Better Half site, but, for the moment, it's a dead end. But we did find a production notice which gives us a synopsis of the film:

Joyless, unpleasant, and hyper-critical Calista Ryan is so intent upon the appearance of perfection, she's increasingly oblivious to the needs of her firefighter husband, Jeff, and her two teenage kids. But after being killed in a freak accident, Calista winds up in purgatory, where she learns her soul has been split down the middle, between her unpleasant self and Cali, her bubbly, joyful "better half." Now, Calista and Cali have 48 hours to return to earth and turn the tide of their dysfunctional family -- or it's straight to hell for them both. But whether Calista can reconcile her two disparate natures and join back up with Cali as a fully functional soul, while helping her loved ones avert various crises, remains to be seen.

And finding the film is written by Shay Roehm and written/directed by Michael Winnick led me to Mr. Winnick's IMDB page and, in turn, the page for The Better Half which, again, doesn't tell us much. :/ However, between the film's description and IMDB categorizing it as Action/Comedy/Family, means I can squee and cross an item off my bucket list because JAMIE IS DOING A COMEDIC ROLE.

Hopefully, we'll have more news, especially casting news, to share soon. And maybe Jamie will share a few pics from set if he can. :)

News has been a bit slow since The Smoke ended :(, but while we await Jamie's next gig we have a couple of convention appearances to announce. :)

First up, Jamie is scheduled to appear at London Film and Comic Con July 11th-13th. Click HERE to purchase tickets and for autograph/photo op pricing.

Jamie is also scheduled to appear on the other side of the pond at the Nashville Comic Con September 26th-28th.

And while we know how exciting it is to have a chance to meet Jamie, we'll tack on our usual disclaimer that any convention appearance is subject to his availability at that time and a film or TV commitment could force him to cancel.

Well, that's that then.  One day after the cast's contracts were up, this was just posted to Sky's website:

Screenshot-(417)

Pretty unfortunate news considering how warmly received the show seemed to be by most who were able to see it.  And a real letdown for the cast and crew. (I know, we're biased as always, but especially for Jamie who had one of the richest roles he's ever played on television in this.)

Sound off in the comments below; I have some stuff to add, but right now they might just get pushed aside by expletives. :P

So as some may have noticed over the weekend (via us or more importantly, via Jamie - well done, JB ;) - on Twitter), a new BBC radio drama that Jamie's in went out on Sunday. First of two parts, anyway; part two airs next week!:
(Available to stream now through April 26)

It's an adaptation of a Jeeves & Wooster novel that happens not to feature Wooster; Jamie's character is basically Not-Wooster and he's delightful. ;)  Great cast too including Rufus Sewell (phoar), Glenne Headley and Joanne Whalley.

I'll update this post with the link to Part 2 when it goes live!
______________________________

In other news, just a reminder for everyone who hasn't had an opportunity to see the show that The Smoke Series 1 is available on DVD now! Here, once again, are some links where you can buy it (FYI for U.S. folks, it'll run you about $24-$27 with the conversion rate):

Acorn DVD (the distributor)

I received mine Friday and immediately dove into the extra features; there's not a ton but there's some fun behind the scenes stuff we haven't seen yet, and virtually all of the cast and crew interviews are different than what's already been released on YouTube and such by Sky so that's GREAT!  (I would warn anyone who hasn't seen the show yet, though, NOT to watch the extras until you've watched all the episodes. Lots of spoilers, best watch the extras last.)

EDIT: Well, some unfortunate news to report that has just been discovered:  It seems like whoever was in charge of music clearances for the show didn't bother to extend that to home video release.  So ALL of the pop music in the show is missing on the DVD release, including most notably the Adele sing-along in episode 1 which is now replaced with more general shots of the crew laughing in the back seat before and after Kev talks to Trish on the phone.  No, it's not as crucial as having whole scenes missing but it takes a lot away from the tone and feel of the show for all the songs to be replaced with generic stuff. Disappointing, especially for anyone who hasn't seen the show yet. :(
Speaking of spoilers, though, I'm going to put some interesting information from one of the extras behind a cut below… if you haven't seen the show, don't click this!  But those who have seen the show will find it interesting:
SPOILERS re: A key part of Trish's back story...Collapse )

Spoilers over.  Carry on as you were. ;)  (Although if you want to discuss those spoilers in the comments, please CLEARLY mark them. Thanks!
